
Generation of short positive or negative pulses with amplitudes up to 5V and adjustable pulse width (FWHM) between 40ps and 100ns. The output pulses are fired after a trigger event. The following trigger sources are available:
- Software trigger over graphical user interface or SCPI command for the generation of single pulses.
- External trigger input with adjustable trigger threshold and selection of the active trigger edge.
- Internal trigger generator with a repetition rate between 1μs und 1s and a resolution of 1 μs

The comb generators generate output pulses with a maximum repetition rate of 2.56GHz. An external clock signal between 480MHz and 2.56GHz is needed to provide the time base for operation. Two different operation modes are available, that can be selected via the instruments USB-interface:
In frequency divider mode the instrument generates output pulses according to the input clock frequency divided by one of the dividers /1, /2, /4, /8, /16, /32, /64 , /128, /256 or /512.
In PRBS mode pulses are generated according to the pseudo random binary sequence of length 2n-1 with n= 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11.
The comb generators provide short negative output pulses with pulse widthes down to ≤20ps and minimal phase variation.
